The Toadstool Post is a monthly snail mail subscription for children aged 3 to 8. On sign-up every child receives their very own buildable woodland journal, complete with a hand-illustrated Toadstool Woodland adventure map and an introduction to their new woodland friends. Each month a personalised envelope arrives through the letterbox, addressed directly to your child, with a hand-written letter from Fox, new pages to add to their growing journal, screen-free prompts and activities, two Polaroid character prints to collect, a sticker sheet and a colouring postcard. Every page, every letter and every illustration is painted by hand, so your child has something real, slow and made with care to look forward to each month.

The Toadstool Post is designed for children aged 3 to 8. For younger children aged 3 to 5 we recommend opening it together as a shared parent and child activity which is also exactly what the UK government's screen time guidance recommends.

We are a small British team of three. Our founder holds a Master's degree in the Psychology of Education and is the illustrator behind every character and story in The Toadstool Post. Every illustration is hand-painted with no AI and no shortcuts.

Because there is nothing quite like a child receiving real post addressed specifically to them. It is physical, it is personal, and it is something no screen can replicate. We believe childhood deserves something real to hold.

Every activity is designed by our founder who holds a Master's degree in the Psychology of Education. Activities are created with the 3 to 8 age range in mind and are open-ended so children of different ages can engage with them in different ways. For younger children parental involvement is encouraged and makes the experience richer for both of you. Activities might include 'tips' for how to extend and develop the activity for children of different ages.

Why per child? 

With our original prototype, activities could be shared between siblings — so one envelope could work for two, three, even six children. But now that every child gets their own buildable Adventure Journal with personal writing and mark-making prompts, they each need their own copy to write in, stick in and grow with. So instead of one shared envelope, every child gets their own special envelope, addressed just to them 🍄

Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time with no penalty. If you cancel before your next billing date you will not be charged again.

No. You can subscribe for one month or stay for years. There is no minimum commitment.

We collect your child's first name and age alongside your delivery address and email address. We do not collect any other personal information about your child.

Your child's name is used solely to personalise their delivery envelope and story letter. We do not use children's personal information for any commercial profiling or marketing purposes.

We take data protection seriously, particularly given the nature of our product. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office and comply fully with UK GDPR and the Children's Code. We will never share your data with third parties.
